Essential timesaver!
The headphone jack on my Treo(s) 650 has gone out twice, so I have had 3 Treos in 5 months. Each time I was sent a new one, I had to load my programs in to the new phone body. But, no worries, the backup buddy took care of everything! Worked flawlessly and easily.

Not compatible with Clié TH55
I don't know about other palm machines, but avoid this software if you own a Sony Clié TH55. I tried it, and found it great at first glance (especially loved the compression and backup at power-off features).
Then I did a backup/restore using Backup Buddy.
Result was that a lot of apps and databases got damaged (e.g. Documents To Go dictionary, Palm VNC, MegaLauncher background images, and so on and so on), I got a lot of resets, and had to reinstall damaged apps for them to work again. Fortunately I ran Sony's MSBackup just before Backup Buddy, and could restore from it -> all back sound and safe. Never had any troubles with MSBackup, too bad it ships only in Clié devices' roms. For those concerned, the MSBackup takes care of removing Palm deleted files from the backup set, no need to delete a backup before running it again (what Backup Buddy calls "Orphans processing").

excellent update
This application has saved my device more times than I can count.. I can hard reset anytime and get it all back with one hotsync! If you read up on proper usage of BackupBuddy and learn all the features, it really does a great job. Check out the demo version and compare the number of files backed up with your previous palm backup and you'll be surprised.. as for the person advertising filez below, sure you can copy all files manually using a file manager, but BackupBuddy is much much more...

Backup buddy is not a good Program
I does not make any more confience with this software. On 5 restore, there were 2 with big errors ... Of which problem to restore the link between the SD card and the main memory. Not reliable, I flush it of my life.

Genius!
I just spent a couple hours setting up finance tracking apps on my Visor, but since they aren't part of the palm desktop app, NO BACKUP.
I even looked at expansion solutions until I came across the reviews on this little app. I am a student on a budget. This is a big help to me. Thanks.

Try FILEZ, freeware file manager with backup-all option. Works for me!
FILEZ has many file-management features including backing up all files, and it is the only way I was able to delete a PROGECT file that was crashing my Visor.
