I think it cheats
At first, I was doing pretty well against it: I got my rating up over 1700. Then, I just seemed to go to pieces. I couldn't win anything. Games would regularly play out bizarrely: almost every game included a period when I had one (or as many as four!) men stuck on the bar. My rating dropped to about 1300.

Then I started playing with the "Roll your own dice" option. It was like night and day. I immediately won three 9-point matches in a row. Moreover, it *felt* utterly different. Suddenly, I could leave a plot without it being hit by man 8 points away on the next roll.

My judgment is that it may not cheat initially, but it switches into a cheating mode (or just starts cheating more aggressively) either at some time, or in response to results.

It cheats
This is a good backgammon game, but many people, including me, thinks it cheats. I have been a tournament level player for 20 years, and I have never seen a human roll out of more positions than this program. It is highly agressive and consistently gets out of positions where the odds are way against it. The author claims it doesn't cheat, but nobody believes him.

Kick-butt backgammon
Dangerously addictive. Impressive program. Plays and uses the cube aggressively. I suspect it will play even with, or better than, most people on the highest skill level.
Neat touch to label the players 'Palm' and 'Human'. Makes you want to win for the species.
