Message:Well, what are you doing to make it do that? Are you pushing the buttons at the bottom of the clie to turn it on? This may not be your problem and this might sound dumb (but you say you are a newby :) but try pushing the ON button to activate the unit instead of the round buttons at the bottom. Those buttons are preset (you can reconfigure them) to load applications like the Date Book and Address Book. I hope this helps. Good luck.
