Message:Uninstalling Palm Desktop 2.6.3.1 and Uninstalling The Missing Sync problems:
While attempting to move a large database (Merck Manual and Epocrates) from the 8 meg MS (where it did not work due to excess RAM requirement) to a Lexar 64 mb MS using McFile & McMount and thinking 2.6.3.1 might enable moving data to the Desktop Backup than to the MS, I am now unable to boot up and get the following:
"HotSync preferences and user files have already been set up"
When I check HotSync:
Install Handheld files:
"File not found"
Setup:
"File not found"
Conduit settings:
"File not found"
When I try to use the Clie MacPac Installer I get:
"Sorry! The process System Preferences is still running. Installation cannot continue"
I moved my user data into a non-Palm folder-though that too now seems to be lost. I tried to Uninstall Palm Desktop 2.6.3.1 by searching anything Palm in OS X System Folder and OS9 Classic environment System Folder in extensions and preferences. Emptied Trash and restart.
I do wish to perform a fresh install. At this point I don't care if I lose all the Desktop user data as it is still intact on the Clie. Is there an uninstall utility or program for Palm Desktop 2.6.3.1 and the Missing Sync?
After I hopefully succeed with the above, how do I do a backup of my large databases off the 8 meg MS to a backup folder and than to my 64 meg Lexar MS?
I Have:
Sony Clie 710C with Palm OS v3.5.2 and Mark/Space The Missing Sync
Mac PowerPC G4 running OSX v10.0.4 with 384 MB
RAM
Whew! Thanks
Robert
