I'll certainly try the soft reset angle, which may be the best move. Let me mention one other possibility, too. I'm British, and I bought my Palm whilst in the USA, and first discovered the problem while I was still there, and had to resort to leaving the Palm on (with the screen brightness right down low) - but as you say it takes ages. I use a transformer and cable to re-charge, then, when I am back in Britain. What I discovered is this: if I connect and disconnect the charger cable, three or four time, quite quickly, then push it back in, the light stays on all night! Weird, but it seems to work. You might try a similar thing in the hot sync cradle, and see if it 'forces' the light to stay on? Let me know if it works that way.
