My m505 (Hungarian version) was giving me battery problems.. It would charge to 100% but then quickly die in a matter of minutes to about 70%. After 70% it would drain normally.Recently my Dad's m505 from work broke. You can touch the screen and nothing happens, even though there is no damage to the screen. (USA version, and yes, his screen is darker for some reason) It's outta warranty and his company already bought him a new 515 replacement.
Now his battery was perfect. No problems at all. Charges to 100% and drains steadily and normally. So I decided to open my unit up and do a battery swap. Needless to say battery life improved-somewhat. Now my unit will stay at 100% for about 20 minutes and then drop to about 80% right away-without ever showing to be in the 90's.
I thought I may have damaged the battery so I removed it and put it back in the original palm to check. In the original 505 it shows as 97%, but only 80% in mine. Odd? I can't understand it. The stranger thing is that when my unit shows 80% with the swapped battery I will put it in the cradle. After about 10-15 minutes when I take it off the cradle it still shows 80% but will creep up to 100% slowly...I can't explain it..
I tried the soft reset in the cradle without success. Do I have to drain the battery completely in my palm and then recharge? I have heard that draining the battery fully can shorten battery life even further... is this true?
ANY Help would be appreciated, as I don't want to get an exchanged refurb unit. Afterall as I said my unit is brighter than my dad's 505, and I have a fear of getting a USA darker replacement.
