I just purchased an external antenna to HOPEFULLY improve the terrible reception in my home office (basement). It came with an 'adapter', specifically for the 6035, and this thing won't fit into any hole that I can find on my 6035. I've confirmed that the adapter is the one suggested on several sites. Here's a picture.

I've unscrewed the standard antenna, and my assumption is that this thng just pops in there.
No go. The little metal 'band' on the inside of the antenna receptable is the exact same radius as the white nylon 'ring' on the adapter. It does not fit in there.
Anyone have any thoughts or successfully used an external antenna to improve reception in indoor locations?
Thanks for your time.
