datcn20.dll FIX:Hotsync crash during datebook mail trnasfer: failure DATCN20.DLL
I have had the same problem on two occasions.
Searching the net for 'datcn20.dll' you will find lots of German sites reporting/fixing the failure.
The cause of the problem appears to be that on a previous hotsync, possibly due to an interuption of transfer,
a slightly corrupted datebook file got stored on your PC. Often, if not always, this then has a date in it which
is very early. This then interacts with a bug in hotsync which can't handle this date and crashes.
The fix to try is very easy and worked fisrt time for me. It looks complicated but it isn't !
1. using palm desktop look at earlier entries in your datebook, and chose a date before which you have very few or no entries e.g. 1995. All entries before your chosen date will get deleted - see below.
2. close palm desktop.
3 double click on your time/date icon on your PC and change the current date to 1995.
4 open palm desktop note that it now thinks that 'today' is sometime in (e.g.) 1995.
5 select the datebook . Then click on 'tools' at the top to get the 'tools' drop down menue.
6 click on 'purge events' - a dialog box will offer you to purge events older than 1 week ( from your artificial date).
7. OK this - this will clear your datebook of all entries before this date, including hopefully the entry with a corrupt date.
8 close palm desktop.
9 change the date on your pc dack to the real date.
10 try a hotsync.
If this does not work, in Germany they can email their datebook file to Palm support, to have the corrupt entries removed.
Palm have a set internal (i.e. not of release quality) utilities to do this with. I don't lnow if Palm support in any other country will do this.
