DeviceLock Secures Local Smartphone Synchronizations

By James Alan Miller
November 12, 2009

The latest version of DeviceLock software delivers independent control over local data synchronizations between iPhone/iPod touches and corporate desktops and laptops. It also adds phase-one BlackBerry device type support, which includes device presence detection, access control and logging.

The platform gives administrators the ability to centrally control which types of data specified users or their groups are allowed to synchronize between corporate computers and locally connected mobile devices. In addition to the iPhone and BlackBerry, it supports the Windows Mobile and Palm platforms.

According to DeviceLock, the point of the platform is to proactively protect endpoint computers against local data leaks and malware infiltration resulting from insider negligence, accidental mistakes or malicious actions. The software enables IT security personnel to precisely control, log, shadow-copy and audit end-user access to all types of local ports and peripheral devices, including personal mobile devices, as well as local and network printers.
