BoxTone has just extended its mobile management suite to allow enterprises, government agencies and managed service providers to manage, track and control smartphones running on the Google Android 2.0 mobile operating system. The BoxTone suite automatically discovers and inventories all enterprise-connected smartphones—including now those built on Android 2.0—then tracks utilization, identifies threats and eliminate wasteful spending, according to the company. Today's news follows last month's launch of BoxTone 5.0, which added support for other ActiveSync-attached mobile devices, such as the iPhone, Palm Pre and Windows Mobile platform. The platform can also handle RIM's BlackBerry devices. It is capable of scaling up to tens of thousands of smartphones. See here to learn more about BoxTone.
