Google's just added a new transit directions feature to Google Maps for mobile for the Windows Mobile (2005 or later) and Symbian/S60 (3rd edition or later) smartphone platforms. Made available for BlackBerry and Java-based handsets a few weeks ago, this feature allows you to request a route using only public transportation in over 50 cities. It is supposed to give you a number of different options to help you get where you want to go without driving yourself.

Transit directions for Windows Mobile and Symbian/S60 work justs like they do on the BlackBerry version of the application (see video below). All you have to do is bring up Directions from the main menu to find a second tab labeled Transit (or Public Transport).

In addition to transit, version 2.2 of Google Maps for mobile also adds star-ratings for businesses and faster search results - all with the addition of user-generated content. To get this latest edition of Google Maps for mobile, point your mobile browser to google.com/gmm.
