Cut & Paste Makes Windows Mobile Translator Far Easier to Use

By Amy Mayer
August 20, 2008

In our recent review of the World Concepts Language Translator software, we lamented the inability to cut and paste text. Fortunately, that proved an oversight. Depending on the keyboard/keypad of your device, you may be able to copy from an e-mail, web page, Word document or other source and paste the text into the translation window. Here's how to do it on a Verizon XV6800.

  •
  • Open WCI Translation
  •
  • Open your source-Internet Explorer, Word, etc.
  •
  • Using the stylus, highlight the text you want to translate
  •
  • Click on the keypad icon on the bottom menu bar
  •
  • Touch CTRL then "C" on your keypad, with the stylus
  •
  • Switch to WCI Translation and click in the upper window
  •
  • Next, tap CTRL then "V" on the keypad to paste your source text
  •
  • Select the language you want to translate from and to
  •
  • Click translate

The QWERTY keyboard on this device doesn't have a Ctrl key, which stymied our earlier efforts at cut and paste. But, with this keypad option, the functionality of the translator software grows exponentially.
