Tip: Windows Mobile - How to Put Device Lock on the Today Screen

By Amy Mayer
June 20, 2008

Locking a Windows Mobile device prevents you from accidentally dialing someone while the phone's in your pocket and other inconvenient snafus. A handy place to keep a "Device Lock" icon is right on your Today screen.

To place that option on the list that comes up whenever you boot up or select Start-->Today, follow these steps:

Choose start-->settings, then click the personal tab. Select the Today icon and in the list that comes up, check the "device lock" box.

To lock your device, simply return to your Today screen and click with the stylus, tap with your finger or scroll with the job wheel and select Device Lock.

To Unlock, you must click the Unlock button and then tap "unlock" on the middle of your screen where it appears.
