Love Opera Mini on my Treo 600
Opera Mini is the only browser that's actually made web browsing useful and useable on my Treo 600 with T-Mobile. It's pre-EDGE GPRS internet, glacially slow connection, so the regular Treo web browser is painful to use and chokes on most websites. In contrast, Opera Mini makes most websites useable, and because its server component adjusts pages to the device and sends much less data, the web browsing experience is actually tolerable. The Treo 600 runs out of memory on larger pages with lots of graphics, but I can turn off the images if I just want to see the text.
I would love to see how Opera Mini would work on a more powerful device on a faster connection, like EVDO or just EDGE; I'll bet it would fly.
There are numerous Palm 600-related issues, like no multitasking, and occasionaly my Treo hangs, but I think these are Palm platform issues, not Opera Mini issues.
Yes, the Java installation on Palm Treo 600 was a bit of a pain, but I managed.
Bottom Line: Opera Mini is the only usable and useful browsing option for me on my Treo 600. It manages to work within the Palm platform constraints and provide a usable browsing experience that makes most websites available for use, even when those sites are not optimized for mobile devices.
