Worst. Service. Ever.
Although it seemed to work well for the first little while, we had a fatal crash/freeze on the Plam within a couple months of buying it. Fortunately, it was within 3 months of the purchase, as I have read many stories about people paying as much as their Palm was worth to have such a problem repaired. We contacted tech support through their web forms (they do not respond to email, other than to direct you to the web form) and they never got back to me, other than to send a survey to evaluate their "service." When we phoned the help line ($40 if you have had your Palm longer than 3 months), which you can get if you go through all the web forms, I was shouted at by a representative because I told her I'd already done a hard reset. If you buy this product, I hope it never breaks down on you (fat chance!), because you'll get better customer service by poking yourself in the eye with a flaming chopstick.

Tungsten E2 love/hate relationship
I just bought my first hand held a couple of weeks ago. Like every new 'toy' I loved messing with it. I decided that it would be the perfect tool for my budget but when I tried to hotsync to my mac to download software, I found that my new tool wasn't any better than an expensive list maker. I went on the Palm website, the Apple website, and several other forums to see if I could fix the problem but what I found was this was a very common issue. I tried a soft reboot, restarting the computer, unplugging everything, a hard reboot and nothing would make my E2 and computer connect to sync. It was the perfect solution to my needs - if only it worked! If you can get the two to communicate, it is a great device, otherwise, I think I'll just stick to paper lists.

Cool Little Tool
I was torn between the E2 and the TX. I finally got the E2, realizing that if I purchased the TX, I'd probably never use most of the toys it came with. Besides, at these prices I can upgrade in a few months with out much sweat. I've had Palm IIIc, Palm m130 and now the Palm E2 and the E2 ROCKS! I play MP3's, connect easily with Outlook (admittedly it took a while to figure out the connection stuff, seems if you just give basic info it works better than if you give specific info--go figure). I used documents to go as a third party app when I had the IIIc and m130 and was tickled that I got it for free with my E2.In the end I guess it all boils down to what you need. I didn't need bluetooth or wifi. For what I need, the E2 works perfectly.

Tungsten E2 will not sync with Outlook.
I have spent the past three months calling Palm customer service and recently returned my E-2 and received a new replacemant. It can not sync with Outlook. at least not with more than a hundred or so contacts. Now I am at the point where I can no longer get customer service on the unit. I bought it at Circuit City where the manager told me that palm would fine his store three times the value of the unit if they exchanged it for me (a silly lie). I will never buy another product from Circuit City or Palm.

Very good allrounder with minor glitches
I have purchased this excellent hand tool and it is working fine. Recently, after loading a backup software (lite version downloaded from palmblvd site)I have noticed that the device hangs if card info is accessed from the application menu. Formatting the SD card has become difficult. Otherwise, the back up function works well.I was surprised to find the pdf manual running 653 pages avaiable only with printing menu disabled. Now when I have to get a print out I print from the Tungsten E manual. Wonder what made Palm One diable this important feature.

screen noise
When on, there is continual high-pitched buzzing from screen from some units. Palm acknowledged the problem, but says it is normal. Unfortunately, mine has the buzz :(

Software Update Problems
I had a Sony palm-powereed PDA. It stopped working, so I bought a Palm Tungsten E. The new E software installed with no problem and no loss of data on the E. I did note the name of the software folder remained "Sony". I have now purchased a Palm Tungsten E2, and when I installed the software, carefully following their instructions for updating, I lost all my data--hundreds of contacts are gone. Palm's technical support is M.I.A.--no phone number, can't send them an e-mail asking advice, NOTHING. Don't buy a Palm if you think there is even the remotest possibility you may have a technical problem!
