Fossi's Wrist PDA with Palm OS watch won a Best of Comdex award way back in 2002, a few months after the company first introduced the device to the world. Due to production problems, however, Fossil kept pushing back the release date for the watch until it didn't make sense to further pursue its release.

So it appeared the Wrist PDA's day was done before it even began.

Not so fast…

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas today, the Wrist PDA rose from the ashes with its reintroduction to the world. Not only that, the Wrist PDA—available in Fossil's eponymous and ABACUS brands—is already shipping.

The Wrist PDA promises to offer all the capabilities of a full-size handheld in a watch. It includes 8MB of memory (4x as much as the original unreleased model), runs on Palm OS 4.1 and a 66 MHz Motorola Dragonball Super VZ processor, and even includes a stylus within the watch buckle for Graffiti and other types of input on its 160x160 pixel resolution grayscale with backlight touch screen.

Other features include one-handed navigation via a 3-way Rocker switch and Back button, the ability to beam data to another Palm device via the Infrared Port, USB HotSync support for Mac OS and Windows, and a lithium-ion rechargeable battery that lasts approximately 3-4 days. The battery can be recharged with an included AC adapter.

Fossil has high hopes the Wrist PDA. The company's Director of Technology Frank Romero said, "This is the first Palm Powered organizer that a user can carry with them all the time. The product changes the usage model of Palm OS based organizers, giving users access to their personal information by simply wearing a watch."

The company’s self-branded Palm OS watch features a stainless steel case and black leather strap. It sells for $249 directly from Fossil . The ABACUS brand Wrist PDA also uses a stainless steel case, but implements a rubber strap with padded black leather inlay instead. It will be available exclusively through Tiger Direct for $199.
