Golf is a difficult game to master and I'm sure most avid golfers are willing to use whatever advantage they can muster to help get the ball up on the green and in the hole with as few strokes as possible. PDAs have been accepted by the golfing community from the beginning, as they have offered everything from electronic scoring to information about the specific course a user is on and even GPS data.

Today, Golf Equipment Solutions has released another PDA tool, a Palm OS program called I-Putt, that golfers can add to their bag of tricks. According to the company, I-Putt custom calibrates to an individual golfer's putting style and equipment to serve as a putting aid.

Golf Equipment Solutions said I-Putt's purpose is to help golfers get the "feel" of the green by calibrating to the conditions of golf courses, weather and technique. Golfers calibrate I-Putt by taking a practice stroke on a ten-pace putt. Entering the results into I-Putt, the golfer then has a baseline of how the course's conditions are affecting his or her stroke.

At the green, users count the number of paces from the ball to the cup and note whether the path is level, uphill or downhill. The company claims I-Putt then calculates how powerful the stroke needs to be in order to sink the putt.

I-Putt sells for $80. Golf Equipment Solutions said they are working on bringing the application to other PDA platforms in the future.
