T-5
I bought the T-5 because it was the latest and greatest. I thought. With the change in connectors, I find all kinds of goodies for the T-3 and other units, but nothing for the T-5 that I want. I would like to attach one of my GPS units, but a cable is not availible yet. Looking back, hindsight being 20 20, I should have bought the Garmin Unit, and added a bunch of memory cards. Aside from the above complaints, I like the unit's screen and ease of sync and use. Hopefully attachments will catch up with the T-5.

No Universal connector
I have quite a few Palm add-ons that I wanted to use with the new T5. But no universal connector puts me at a loss. I like the Palm OS but not the form factor change. If I could trade in for a 40% discount or something like that, maybe I would feel better. Now I have to eBay my palm 505, the keyboard, the cradles, and the leather cases. Any takers?

NO Universal Connector - !$^!$!%^#!
I have tons of integrated items that require the universal or serial port - If palm discontinues it off to Pocket PC land I go I guess I'll get built in Wifi Bluetooth and compact flash. I thought when PALM announce that all its new models would have a standardized sync port they meant it - GUESS THEY LIED - ( Should have seen it coming fist the E then the Zire 72 NOW the T5 guess thay need more accessory sales) Flash memory big deal had that for years with backup VFS and a 64mb SD card - sounds like you have to write to the flash memory every time you shut the thing off if you want to preserve ALL your data. My opinion THEY SHOULD HAVE NAME IT THE T4 - It is going to cause Palm "Bad Luck" - Better come out with a TERO 700 that has a graffiti screen built in wifi and phone real quick to save there butts - I will still go to a Pocket PC - too bad thay given up on alot of users.

It will succeed
People have been asking for a non-collapsive T for a long time, and PalmOne did it.
Ok, WiFi is missing, but I truly thought that this PDA was going to be more expensive, so I can live with it.

As for OS6, that's a mystery. The message from PalmOne is that not even them dare to put it in a PDA, and that seems bad marketing.
I really never needed multitasking on my Palm (what would I need it for? Leave a complex calculation processing on Documents to Go?). But maybe I'm not such a power user, and ZLauncher's switcher is enough for me.

A Pocket-PC with it's crashing OS still doesn't attract me. Anyway, I'll stick with my E until they do an OS6 Treo without an antenna.

Where's the WiFi?
New Orleans is a WiFi kinda town. On my way from work I can stop at a dozen cafes offering free WiFi, where students and professionals work and mingle with their laptops and cappucinos (Macs outnumbering PCs on many occasions, I might add). I usually stop in to read my email, read the news, and plan the next day's court appearances. I'm a lawyer, a public defender. I handle about twenty cases a day and keep summaries and pleadings on my Palm Tungsten E.

I carry a briefcase with my iBook, but there are days when I'd prefer to just reach into my pocket and go online with a handheld. But I can't, not with the Palm. Why? What's wrong with the PalmOne people? First they put out the T3 with its silly click-clack gimmick, then the Treo, and now the T5, all without WiFi. I give up. I'm getting an iPaq.

Bye-Bye PalmOne?
If PalmOne continues in this direction, it will simply cease to exist. The T|T5 simply does not compare to the recent Pocket PCs with VGA resolution, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Sure, it has some nice features such as 256MB non-volatile memory and the ability to act as an external drive when plugged into a USB port but it lacks some essential functionality for a business machine. It lacks Cobalt which would bring multi-tasking to the PalmOS world; needless to say that multi-tasking has been part of Pocket PC since the early days on WinCE.

Just my two pence worth.
