T5 a disapponting POS
I have had my T5 for two years and I can count the successful syncs on one hand. I used one of the original Handspring Visors for years. It was clunky, but it was wonderful.

Part of the problem is that my organization uses GroupWise so I have to use a third party softward to make it work and eveyone points their finger at the other. It's the network, it's PALM, it's Intellisync.

I frankly don't have the time to spend hours with idiot support, so I use it like my pre-PDA Day-timer. (Yes, I am that old). I just don't bother to sync it. Well today, it froze and nothing seems to work. I am surfing around the Net, hoping to find a solution, before I do the hard rest and lose six months of input.

When you read these reviews, you can't help thinking - I want one of those. I still do, but this ain't it.

Hotsynch Problems w/ the T5
I bought a T5 a couple of years ago and loved the way it stored information. Recently, when I try to hotsynch w/ my computer I get an error msg telling me.... "the connection between my device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup." I have not changthed anything on the computer.

Recently in some Internet searches, I have read the T5's cable is faulty. Is this due to corrosion on the contact points or what?

Hot Sych Cable Manufacturing Terrible
Hot Synch difficult. Tech support phone number a "wild goose chase". Tech support outsourced. Troubleshooting guide cumbersome. Hot Synch cable faulty. Other than that the PDA is awesome especially if I could Hot Synch. Anyone know where the corporate offices are located?

A big problem
I agree with the other opinions - I loved my Vx which, when travelling, I could run for 4-5 weeks between charges, and carry easily in a belt clip. A button was loose and I was often running up against its memory limit, so bought the T5. After 10 hours spent by 2 IT guys we decided that it was going to have to be a manual synch with my office scheduler (the Vx handled it fine). I then realised that the IR beaming was not functional: the store gave me another. It crashes frequently, sometimes during the hotsynch. The documents in Docs-to-go sometimes remain behind in the desktop. I could not get a belt-clip case - the store had almost no accessories yet, and Palm was out of stock - so got a hard case to protect it - nowhere to store the wifi card which sticks out of the top of the device. The keyboard worked once but seems to have died and will now have to go back - I will see if the store will take back the T5. What a disappointment.

No change to another Palm
My first PDA was the palm Vx, It was great, then the m515, I did love the upgrade. Now I've a Tungsten T that I considered very good but a little bit old now. To change to T5 means to dump all my accesories (travel cables, wireless keyboard, etc) to go for a device without WiFi? no way. i'm thinking for pocket PC.

Sending T5 Back
After investing many hours (10-15!) with the support people to hotsyc my M515 files to the T5, I am sending it back. I am a heavy user and have over 11,000 records that my 515 handled. The "faster" and "more memory" in the T5 is a farce. It could not handle it, and it was so slow in doing anything. Even when I trimmed my records down to try and get it to work, it was so slow! Yuch. What a disappointment for such an expensive machine. AVIOD THIS UNIT. The problem comes from the new Flash memory, and storage.

From Clie to the T5 - What a disappointment
I have had a clie for 4 years and I love it, but I needed to replace it for a number of reasons. I shopped around and decided to invest in the Tungsten T5. From the day I received it I have had nothing but problems. The T5 crashes every single time I try to hotsync it, no rhyme or reason but the screen suddenly is full of different characters and I have to do a hard reset, and sync it again, only to have the freezing problem. I have attempted to get help - their technical help is in a foreign country, I had several calls with them and not only did they not help me, they couldn't understand me and I certainly could not understand them. I was bounced between Technical Support and the Palm store, each one telling me that the other was lying to me about what they could do to resolve my problems. I called their corporate offices and was passed to a "Corporate Service Representative". He told me that there was nothing that he could do, my ONLY recourse was back to the Palm Store and/or Technical help. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that there was noone else I could speak to. I asked him if he was the President of Palm, his reponse was that he spoke for the CEO of Palm. Wow, guess their corporate facilities are small, they only need two offices...one for this rep with a phone for him to answer and the other for the CEO.
Bottom Line: The T5 is too expensive, buggy, and their support is the worst I have ever dealt with. Be warned, and buy another brand.
