Palm Blvd > News > Fossil PDA Watch Cancelled Fossil PDA Watch Cancelled
By James Miller It is official, Fossil has given up on its Palm OS watch, the Wrist PDA. Back in November of 2002, the device received a Best of Comdex 2002 award, just after it was first announced. This comes as no surprise, as the company kept pushing back the release date of the watch, which was first set to appear back in June of last year. When Fossil stated that the Wrist PDA would be delayed indefinitely back in the Fall, it didn't look good. Fossil told Infoworld that issues with the 1-inch display for the watch were never resolved, as the maker of the screen couldn't get the quality of the display up to minimum standards. All is not lost however. Fossil said it will release a less expensive yet more powerful Palm OS watch that is more competitive with other PDAs this June. No details about the new watch were made available. About the Writs PDA
The Wrist PDA was to include 2MB each of RAM and flash memory and a full (if tiny) 160 x 160 pixel screen. It was also supposed to have an internal rechargeable battery and a USB charging/sync device.
Users could have chosen from three styles (Sport, Casual, and Dress), priced from $275 to $295. The company also planed to offer cheaper versions of the watch under the Abacus sub brand. Philippe Stark versions were also planned.
