The Palm solutions group today announced two significant additions to its product line, the multimedia orientated Zire 71 and the WiFi-enabled Tungsten C.
Both handhelds, though quite different, are the most powerful devices Palm has released in their respective product families. The Zire 71 is the second handheld in the consumer orientated Zire family after the budget priced ($99) and basic Zire, while the Tungsten C is the third handheld in the Tungsten series, after the compact Tungsten T, Palm's first Palm OS 5 handheld, and the data centric smartphone, the Tungsten W. The Tungsten T's slider, which lengthens the device to expose the Graffiti area is also found in the new Zire 71, but to different effect, as it exposes a digital camera and launches the photo software on the device.
