Palm Blvd > News > PalmGear Acquisition Boosts Palm Digital Media PalmGear Acquisition Boosts Palm Digital Media
By PDAStreet.com Staff eBooks are here to stay. At least that what eBook distribor and publisher Palm Digital Media thinks. And in its case, the month of September backed up that claim up. Though no specific numbers were given, Palm Digital Media said that during last month it set records for sales and traffic. Good news for an industry that just saw a major shakeup with the acquisition of Palm Digital Media from PalmSource by PalmGear and the announcement from Barnes and Noble that they would exit the eBook market. In PalmGear's first month of Palm Digital Media ownership, the company claims they've begun to implement changes to create a better user experience, which will then give way to aggressive movement by the company to place eBooks into schools and libraries and onto affiliate sites. Ryan Wuerch, president and chief executive officer of PalmGear, said "we are committed to increase our lead in this industry and are confident that with the rapid acceptance of handheld devices worldwide we will see further advancement of the eBook platform." PalmGear said other changes being implemented to Palm Digital Media include improved categorization, expanded sub categorization for easier searches and the rapid extension of the 11,000 title catalog.
