Mapopolis Enables GPS for Sony CLIE Handhelds

Mapopolis.Com has made available the first GPS bundle for Sony CLIE handhelds. The bundle ($219.99) includes a "mouse" GPS from Holux and a Mapopolis Platinum +GPS subscription. North American and European versions of the bundle are available. Each bundle includes a Mapopolis subscription which features online access to maps for the entire United States and major Canadian cities or West European countries.

Mapopolis said it includes special support for the high- resolution 320x320 display on the CLIE N series handhelds and the 320x480 high-resolution screen on the CLIE NR, NX and now NZ series handhelds. Mapopolis also includes support for Memory Sticks and the CLIE jog wheel. The software generates turn-by-turn directions without requiring an internet connection or desktop computer to generate the route. A users’ current GPS position is displayed on the map along with directions.

The new bundle is available from the company's website and is also available for volume purchase by resellers and other business customers.
