Mobility Electronics Focuses on Real-time Data Capturing

By
September 24, 2002

Mobility Electronics announced it is dedicating increased resources to pursue substantial market opportunities in the usage of mobile computing products to reliably capture clinical data, focus group data and other mission-critical information in real-time.

Mobility said it recently entered into agreements with several companies that are employing a system of handheld computers and modem cradles that enables participants and survey administrators to capture and transmit data to a central database. Data can be input at any location and then sent to a central collection database using a phone line or high-speed internet connection, allowing immediate processing of real-time data and faster generation of results. The company said this type of system is currently being used in four separate, large-scale projects involving clinical drug trials, consumer products research and corporate asset tracking.

"Today's new handheld technologies are powering new line-of-business solutions to revolutionize the way companies work," said Holmes Lundt, executive vice president of Portsmith, Inc., a subsidiary of Mobility Electronics. "Our strong relationships with leaders in the handheld industry and leading technology base allow us to provide the types of cutting-edge applications these customers are demanding."

Mobility Electronics said it is a designer, developer and marketer of products and solutions for the mobile computing user. The company's product portfolio includes docking stations for portable computers; connectivity and video products for handheld computing devices; expansion products for desktop, server and portable computers; and power products and accessories for portable computing devices.
