By Palm Boulevard Staff Palm Digital Media's Director of Business Development Mike Segroves has been elected to the Open eBook Forum board of directors. The Open eBook Forum is an international non-profit trade and standards organization for the electronic book publishing industry. Gold Sponsoring Members include technology Microsoft , Adobe Systems and OverDrive. Members include publishing companies such as Random House, Simon & Schuster, AOL Time Warner, McGraw-Hill, HarperCollins, Scholastic and Harcourt; and educational and government agencies including the Library of Congress, American Foundation for the Blind and the National Institute of Standards and Technology; and technology, device and service companies like netLibrary, a Division of OCLC, Inc., Palm Digital Media, Gemstar-TV Guide International and Sony. As a member of the Open eBook Forum's board of directors, Segroves is slated to play an integral role in shaping the growth of the eBook industry developing standards, industry-wide consumer promotions and market data. According to Palm Digital Media, Segroves first began work with the fledgling technology at Modern Age Books, an electronic documentation and computer products manual supplier he founded in 1993. In 1998, he refocused Modern Age Books to become Books24x7.com, which remains a provider of online reference-ware for corporate IT departments. In 1999, Segroves joined Peanut Press as the Vice President of Marketing & Sales and has remained with the company through its evolution into Palm Digital Media, now part of PalmSource, the Palm OS subsidiary of Palm, Inc.
