By Palm Boulevard Staff Palm Digital Media, a publisher and distributor of eBooks for handhelds, and a division of PalmSource, unveiled new versions of its Palm Reader eBook application for Mac and Windows recently at Macworld Expo. According to the company, computer users with an Internet connection can purchase, download and start reading Palm Reader eBooks in almost every category of literature and move easily between desktops, notebooks and handhelds. For example, the new versions allows users to start reading an eBook on a Mac desktop at home or work, and finish it on a Palm OS handheld while on-the-go. Customers simply download the version of Palm Reader for their preferred platform (Palm OS, Pocket PC, Windows, and Macintosh) to their hard drive where they can either synchronize it with a Palm handheld or Pocket PC device, or read the eBooks on a Mac or Windows computers. Once Palm Reader is installed, eBooks can be transferred and read on all the platforms without modification. The company said Palm Reader for Desktops automatically resizes the eBook for a larger screen and reflows the text. It offers many of the same features available with the handheld version, allowing customers to bookmark pages, add notes, and change fonts and type sizes, plus it adds new features such as the ability to choose from a variety of backgrounds and more.
