Palm Blvd > News > PrintBoy Gains Momentum in the Education Market PrintBoy Gains Momentum in the Education Market
By PDAStreet.com At the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) in San Antonio, Bachmann Software announced that its PrintBoy application will now support printing from Palm OS based devices to Clarinet Systems' EthIR LAN high-speed infrared LAN access system. According to the companies, PrintBoy will enable students and faculty to submit print jobs wirelessly from a PDA, via the infrared port, to Clarinet Systems' EthIR Beam stations located throughout a campus. Once a document is transmitted to the EthIR Beam station, it is then routed to a designated network printer. Also at NECC, Bachmann Software said it is demonstrating printing support for Hands High Software's Thought Manager, an outlining application that helpls students and teachers to organize projects. PrintBoy Deluxe already supports many of the most popular education applications, such as Quickoffice, WordSmith, HanDBase, ThinkDB, FreeWrite, Corsoft Aileron and Student 4.0, among others. Earlier in the week, Bachmann Software reported that PrintBoy had been selected to provide printing support for AlphaSmart's newly introduced Palm OS Dana, the latest in the company's line of portable computing devices for the education market (see "AlphaSmart Unveils Palm OS Based Laptop Alternative for Education").
