By
Extended Systems, Inc., a leading provider of mobile data management and wireless connectivity solutions, and DataViz®, Inc., leading provider of Palm OS® business software, announced today a licensing agreement in which Extended Systems has integrated DataViz's document conversion technology. This integration allows delivery of e-mail attachments to Palm Powered(TM) handhelds through Extended Systems' recently announced XTNDConnect® Server Professional Edition (PE) version 3.0. With the inclusion of this technology, Palm OS handheld users are able to access Microsoft® Word, Excel and other files sent to them as e-mail attachments.
``By adding DataViz's technology to XTNDConnect Server PE's MailPlus component, we allow Palm users to untether themselves from the desktop while maintaining the same instant access included in the e-mail attachments, '' said Jeff Warner, product manager for Extended Systems. MailPlus is included with the XTNDConnect Server PE and replaces the standard Palm mail application, offering Palm OS users increased functionality such as support for attachments, meeting requests and follow-up flags. XTNDConnect Server PE's implementation of e-mail attachment delivery also seamlessly integrates with the full version of Documents To Go®. Customers who are able to take advantage of this integration include those who have purchased Documents To Go, as well as those who received it with a Palm(TM) m125, m130, i705, Palm m500 series device, or a Sony® CLIE(TM) PEG-T415, S360, or T615C. ``Once customers can get their e-mail on their handhelds, the next question naturally becomes how to also get the attached files, which often contain crucial data. We are excited to provide Extended Systems with an e-mail attachment solution for MailPlus to meet that demand,'' said Rob Hoxie, Business Development, DataViz. ``As more organizations are embracing the Palm OS platform, we are pleased to increase our presence in the growing enterprise market through this partnership.''
