ArcSoft Inc., a provider of digital imaging software, has released ArcSoft PhotoBase for Palm handhelds, a new digital image viewer and management application designed for shipment and use with the Palm's new Tungsten T handheld. The Tungsten T is Palm's first Palm OS 5 device.

In addition, ArcSoft said it also provides a custom desktop application for viewing and syncing images via the desktop. This newest software release combines the digital imaging capabilities of ArcSoft's photo manager for the Palm with a customized interface and functionality specifically designed for Palm's latest handheld device. The company said it also offers concise navigation and expanded capabilities, including SD card support, slideshows and various other tools.

"Palm has done a tremendous job with the Palm Tungsten T," stated Chris Bethell, Director of Marketing at ArcSoft. "ArcSoft PhotoBase for Palm OS handhelds, a straightforward image viewer and manager, makes it easy to store, distribute and browse digital images on the Palm device and easily transfer and view it on the PC as well. ArcSoft is excited that Palm selected our product as the image editor of choice for their newest product offering."

In addition to Palm OS 5, the Palm Tungsten T handheld includes a slider design that delivers Palm's most compact Palm branded handheld; one-handed, 5-way navigation;; a 320 x 320 color screen; the Texas Instrument OMAP1510 processor running at 144MHz; voice memo recording capabilities; stereo-quality sound; and integrated Bluetooth for wireless connectivity to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as phones, printers, PCs and network access points.
