To accompany the Tungsten line of handhelds introduced today, Palm, Inc. has announced the new Palm Ultra-Thin Keyboard and a series of new cases.

Designed and manufactured by Think Outside, the Palm Ultra-Thin Keyboard is a touch typeable foldable keyboard. The companies said the new keyboard features an aluminum design that is 30 percent lighter and half the thickness of the previous Palm Portable Keyboard. The case unfolds to a standard QWERTY keyboard, with 18mm key spacing and 3mm key travel. In addition, the companies said the Palm Ultra-Thin Keyboard is rigid enough when open to use on a lap or other uneven surface. Palm Boulevard found this type of use was a problem with earlier models.

The Palm Ultra-Thin Keyboard costs $99 and is scheduled to be available in limited quantities beginning in late November.
